Barn Conversion, Class Q
In 2021 we successfully gained consent for a barn conversion in Menston, West Yorkshire.
Consent was granted under Class Q of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended). The Class Q regulations allow for the change of use and conversion of agricultural building(s) into one or up to five homes, on the holding, which are subject to maximum size limits.
The regulations, and supporting government guidance, set out what limited building works can be undertaken to affect the conversion and are often interpreted differently by local planning authorities. We therefore presented a robust case and were really pleased with the positive outcome.
